Cajun butter salmon! Whoa! Fresh salmon in a smokey savory spicy butter sauce. It’s too good to be true. Oh, but it is true. You can make this delicious salmon recipe in about 25 minutes. It’s perfect to serve with rice, pasta, and veggies. That is if you can contain yourself! This cajun salmon has been known to make people pop out a fork and sneak a couple of bites before it even hits the table.
The key to this deliciously easy seafood dish is the cajun seasoning mix. Of course, everyone wants to know what the best cajun seasoning recipe is and I’m here to tell you, it’s the one you make! Cajun spice has salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, and thyme. Of course, everyone has their own recipe but this is the basic recipe.
How to Make Cajun Butter Salmon
This recipe is so so easy to make! In just a few steps you can have a delicious meal for a romantic at home date night meal or family dinner.
Defrost fish. Rinse and pat the fish dry with paper towels. It needs to be dry as possible. This ensures the oil and spices stick to the fish well.
Mix spices. Add all the spices to a bowl and mix them together very well.
Cover the fresh salmon with a litle olive oil. Just a little. Not so much that the oil is dripping down the fish but just enough to make the spices stick.
Heat the pan. Put 3 tablespoons of butter in the pan over medium heat.
Season. Sprinkle the spices over the fish. Once the pan is hot and you hear a low sizzle, place the fish in the pan, skin side up. Once the fish is in the pan do not move it until it is time to flip it! This ensures that the top is beautiful. As long as the pan is lubricated enough, when the fish is ready to be flipped, it will separate itself from the pan.
Cook the fish for 5-7 minutes and then gently flip. Careful to not splash so the hot butter doesn’t slpash and burn you!
Cook the fish on the order side for 5-6 minutes. Add another 2 tablespoons of butter to the pan. Careful: do not burn the butter! If it begins to burn, turn the pan down and cover the fish. Use a spoon to scoop the butter sauce over the fish.
Remove the pan from the heat as soon as he fish is done! Cover and let it finish cooking. Do not over cook the fish! The fish should be tender and flaky.
Serve & enjoy the abundance of compliments coming your way.
