Easy Whole Wheat Banana Chocolate Chip Bread

  • 3 large overripe bananas
  • 1 egg or 1/4 cup applesauce if making vegan version`
  • 1/3 cup plain greek yogurt use plain vegan yogurt if making vegan version
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil melted
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon optional
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 cups Bob's Red Mill Whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and prepare loaf pan
  • In a bowl, mash the three bananas with a fork or potato masher. Then add egg, greek yogurt, coconut oil, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Mix until smooth.
  • Add vanilla extract, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Mix until smooth
  • Add in whole wheat flour and mix until well combined.
  • Add in chocolate chips. I like semi sweet, but milk chocolate works well.
  • Cover and let batter rest for 15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, remove from the fridge, uncover, and place the batter in the prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake for 45-55 minutes.
  • Let cool in pan for about 15 minutes, then slice and enjoy!
